RAPID CITY | Wanda J. Parham, 91, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House.
Wanda was born on May 27, 1924, in Crane, MO, to A.G. and Ines (Spears) Hemphill. She grew up in Crane and after graduating high school, she attended a secretarial school in Kansas City. Wanda worked as an executive secretary for Sunoco Oil Company for 33 years.
On Nov. 11, 1965, she was united in marriage to Richard Parham in Tulsa, OK. The couple retired to Rapid City in June 1989.
Wanda enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, painting oil landscapes and creating gourmet desserts. She loved flowers, traveling and especially anything chocolate. Wherever she was and whatever she was doing, there was always a smile on her face. Wanda found humor in most situations and her laughter was contagious. Her outlook on life was carefree and positive, and her sweetness could fill up a room. Wanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Richard L. Parham of Rapid City; a stepdaughter, Jan (Rob) Wechsler, of Rapid City and her children, Richard (Lisa) Hamilton, Daniel Hamilton, James (Deidre) Hamilton and Natalie (Jerry) Shaffer; a stepson, Richard L. Parham Jr. of Rapid City and his children, Eric Parham, Katie Parham and her husband, Wayne Thompson and Justin Parham; and six great-grandchildren, Noah, Jhet, Ella, Layla, Paxton and Knox.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 18, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
