Obituary

RAPID CITY--Warren L. "Friday" Biegler, 84, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Warren was born on November 24, 1923, in Revillo, SD, to Warren R. and Emma H. W. (Miottel) Biegler. The family lived in Revillo until he was 12, when they moved to Wessington. He graduated from Wessington High School in 1941, and in February of 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He served in the signal corps from 1942 until 1945 in Grantham and Ascot, England. After his service, Friday returned to Wessington, and on October 2, 1948, he was united in marriage to Elsie Zvonek. Friday was employed at Leighton's Chevrolet Garage in Huron. The family moved to Rapid City in 1954, where Friday was employed at Frontier Ford and later at Courtesy Lincoln Mercury, where he was the parts and service manager. He retired in 1986. Friday was a member of the VFW and Zion Lutheran Church, where he ushered for many years. Friday was known for his sense of humor and his kind and thoughtful nature. He was very generous also, helping those in need of a meal, including many birds and resident squirrels near his home. He also enjoyed doing the cooking, especially meatloaf, and watching western movies and NASCAR. Survivors include 2 sons, Greg Biegler and his wife Janine Kern, Rapid City and Jeff Biegler and his wife Beth, Pontiac, MI; 2 daughters, Christine Mumm and her husband Cliff, Philadelphia, PA and Laurie Hemmer and her husband Jim, Sioux Falls; 5 grandchildren, Jacob Mumm, London, U. K., Andy Mumm, Philadelphia, and Amanda, Allyson and Joe Hemmer, all of Sioux Falls and 3 sisters, Luella Smith, Lusk, WY, Betty Muehl, Sonoma, California and Ona Anderson and her husband Bill, Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie on March 20, 2008, his parents, and 3 brothers, Bob, Don and Hank. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 until 6 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6 p. m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Zion Lutheran Church (4550 S. Hwy. 16) with Pastor Chris Lockie officiating. Military honors will be provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273. Inurnment will be at 9 a.m., on Monday, at Pine Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may sign his online guest register at www.osheimschmidt.com.
