RAPID CITY | Warren S. Stone, 87, died Monday, May 28, 2018, at home, surrounded by his family. He was a successful businessman who grew up in Wall.
Warren Samuel Stone was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Quinn to Harvey and Myrna (Wheelon) Stone.
He and his family moved to Wall in 1932. After graduating high school in 1949, Warren enlisted in the United States Navy, in Omaha, NE. While in the Navy, he served two phases, the Second Korean Winter and the Conclusion.
Upon getting out of the Navy, he found and married the love of his life, Madalyn Imm on Sept. 7, 1955, in Turton. They moved back to Rapid City and Warren started cutting hair at Ellsworth Air Force Base in 1957. He then opened up Parkway Barbershop and barbered for 53 years until his retirement in 2006.
Throughout the years Warren owned and operated several successful businesses with his beloved wife: the Parkway Carwash and Storage Sheds, Parkway Restaurant, and Parkway Laundromat.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Val Stone and Vere (Speck) Stone; and sisters Venetia Byerly and Veda Stone.
Warren is survived by his wife of 62 years, Madalyn; son, Tom Stone (Jodeen); daughter, Janet Lohrman (Jim); daughter, Jolynn Hein; son, Terry Stone (Sylvia); 11 grandkids; and 10 great-grandkids.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Christian Wake service on Thursday, May 31, at St. Therese Catholic Church.
A Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1, at the church, with Fr. Kerry Prendiville presiding.
A luncheon will be served prior to departure to Black Hills National Cemetery for interment with military honors at 2 p.m.
A memorial has been established to St. Therese Catholic Church.
