Wendell W. Behrends, 89, died Friday, March 3, 2017, at Fountain Springs Healthcare.

Wendell was born October 28, 1927, to William and Grace (Kuper) Behrends in Lennox, SD. He grew up in the Lennox area. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. Wendell married Nancy Stewart on August 31, 1951 and they moved to Rapid City in 1953.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother and sister. Wendell is survived by his daughters, Wanda (John) Moranti, Rapid City, SD and Sheila (Doug) Hellekson, Billings, MT; a son Mark (Brenda) Behrends, Snoqualmie, WA; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 7, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

Burial will be Wednesday, March 8, prior to the service at the Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 8, at 1:30 pm at Zion Lutheran Church. Thank you, Dad, for the love you gave us!
