William H. "Bill" Sauer, 88, of Rapid City, died Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
He was born on September 30, 1929 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Kermit and Mary Sauer. After graduating high school, Bill joined the Unites States Air Force, retiring in 1968 as a tech sergeant.
Bill married Jo Ann L. King in Rapid City on June 9, 1974. He worked for a time at the Pennington County Jail and Family Thrift before his 20-plus years at Sherwin Williams. He retired again in 1992.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing and camping. Bill was very active in the Moose Lodge #1137 where he tended bar and called bingo for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann, Rapid City, a son, Brian Williams, a daughter, Beverly E. Sauer, A brother, Kermit (Naomi) Sauer, two sisters; Loretta Warfel and Mary Greiner, his mother in law, Edith King, Rapid City and his sister and brother, Jan and Duane Gednalske, Rapid City.
Bill was preceded I death by his parents and two brothers.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be at 7: 00pm, Monday, December 4, 2017 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with the Moose Fellowship Degree service.
Entombment of his ashes will take place at 10:00am, Tuesday, November 5 at Black Hills National Cemetery with the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honors Team.
