William Bill Lowell Robbins, 67, of Hill City, passed from this life to be with his Savior on Monday, December 5, 2011 after a six month battle with cancer. He was born July 16, 1944, in Rapid City, to Leland and Ruby (Dimond) Robbins. As a young boy his family moved to Hill City, and he attended the Hill City Schools along with his younger siblings, Mark, Julie, and Jeanne. After high school he attended one year of college at Black Hills State before joining the Navy. He served his country from 1965 to 1969. On December 28, 1967 Bill married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Burden in the Little White Church in Hill City. They settled in Arvada, CO after Bill was honorably discharged and Bill began working for Western Electric. A daughter, Heidi, was born to them in 1971. In 1973, a tragic car accident claimed the life of Bonnie that also involved Bill and Heidi. The spring of 1974 Bills father, Leland, went home to be with the Lord and Bill and Heidi moved back to the beautiful Hills he loved. In the fall of 1974, two of the Stam girls (long time family friends) also moved to the Hills and Bill was reintroduced to Margie Stam. On April 5, 1975, Bill and Margie were married in Margies family home in Worthington, MN. Their new little family of three settled in Hill City and then was transferred through work to Pierre. In Pierre a son, Jeffrey, was born in 1977. Shortly after Jeffs birth they were able to once again move back to lovely little Hill City. This time they were home to stay, built a home, and enjoyed a life of family, friends, and work. During retirement years, Bill and Margie loved traveling in their RV seeing many parts of North America visiting old friends and family and making many new friends along the way. They spent the last three winters with many new friends in Florida enjoying the warm beaches and working at the Manatee Park. Bill served on and was active with the Hill City School Board, the Hill City Volunteer Fire Department, the Rotary Club, a Deacon and Elder at the Little White Church, very active with his son in the Boy Scouts and was a member of the American Legion. He worked for Northwestern Bell and retired from Qwest in 2001 as facilities engineer. Some of the things he enjoyed most during his life were golf, skiing, and keeping his vehicles like new. He was known for his great love for his family and friends. He was the best of husbands and fathers, never leaving his family to ever wonder of his faithfulness or love.
