Hill City

William O. "Bill" Turner, Jr, 70, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He was born December 20, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia to William O. and Clarice (Newbern) Turner, Sr. Bill grew up in Norfolk graduating from Montgomery High School.

He married Kandus Schriner on February 19, 1972 in College Park, MD. Bill moved his family to Rapid City in 1973 and worked for Sears & Roebuck as a vehicle technician for 27 years. He and Kandus built their home near Hill City in 1973. The last 13 years, Bill worked as a front desk clerk at the Hill City Holiday Inn.

He enjoyed fishing, old stationary engines and most recently, collected antique oil lamps.

Bill is survived by his wife Kandus, Hill City, his dad, William O. Turner, Sr., Warfordsburg, PA, his children; Tony (Melissa) and their children, Alexis and Jessica, Mark (Alesha) and their children, London, Sydney and Charlie, Cindy Peterson and Melissa (Travis) Crisman and their son, Layne, his uncle Franklin Turner, brothers; Tom (Sharyn) Turner and Paul (Karen) Turner and many extended family members.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Clarice Newbern Turner, step mothers; Barbara Gourly Turner and Dorothy Turner, brothers; Ronald and Steven Turner.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City.

A memorial has been established by the family.
