Zachary Taylor Vermeulen, age 28 of Rapid City, SD passed away on April 9, 2024.

Zach was born October 1995 in Madison, SD to parents, Tim and Amy (Taylor) Vermeulen.

His older sister, Brittany Vermeulen, was thrilled at his arrival.

In 1998, the family moved to Rapid City where Zach attended Westside Preschool and Rapid City Public Schools.  He obtained a high school diploma and began working at Dakota Sealants, Inc.  During his formative years, Zach played baseball, football, and raced short track motorcycles.  He loved spending time with family, especially at grandma and grandpa's pool and with his cousins, camping, and snowboarding.

As a young man, Zach loved spending time outdoors snowboarding, playing disc golf, hiking and spending time with his dog, Sebastian (Bash). Interests he and his girlfriend, Miranda Buckingham, enjoyed and shared, as well, as the many trips they took together.

Since birth, Zach was mischievous, inquisitive, optimistic, outgoing, free spirited, playful, and adventurous.  He had a smile a mile-wide and his spirit will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Survivors include parents, Tim and Amy Vermeulen; sister, Brittany Vermeulen; girlfriend Miranda Buckingham; dog, Bash; grandparents, Myrna Vermeulen, and Michael and Ruth Beyer; uncles, Shane Taylor, and Kevin, Chad and Dustin Vermeulen; and cousins Trever, Kadee, Maloree, Luke, and Ava Vermeulen; and Noah and Olivia Taylor.

He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandfathers.

A memorial gathering will be held at Old Storybook Island Park Shelter on April 18, 2024 @ 3:00 pm.

Visitation will be held at Osheim Schmidt Funeral Home at 1:00 pm on April 19, 2024 with a service following at 2:00 pm for close friends and family.
